Toast began as a small breakfast spot in Lincoln Park and now has a second location in Bucktown. Toast is one of those weekend brunch spots that everyone mobs around 11am on Saturdays and Sundays, so be prepared to wait. The space is narrow with only about 15 very close together tables, but it is well worth is for a delicious breakfast. The menu has a nice selections of typical breakfast fair with a slightly innovative twist and there are always tempting specials written on the chalk board above the counter. Salads and sandwiches are good for lunch. Service is casual and generally fast. Toast’s fresh ingredients make their dishes the best, so try something with fresh berries on top. The trio of stuffed french toast or the pancake orgy.

About Tessa McLean

There is just something about that feeling when you have been away — maybe for a weekend, a month, 6 months — and you’re driving into Chicago and that first glimpse of the city skyline appears. It just always makes me smile.
