Rose Angelis (Restaurant, Lincoln Park)
Location: 1314 W Wrightwood Ave
Nestled on Wrightwood between Southport and Racine is a little piece of Italian heaven known as Rose Angelis. I went on a Thursday evening around 8:30pm for the first time. Seating is minimal, so without reservations it was about a 25 minute wait. But a wait is never a bad thing when you’ve got a glass of vino in hand.
Per request, we were seated in their quaint outdoor dining area, eating under the light of a few candles and the stars up above. We chose the Thursday night special, dinner for two for $49.00. This includes one appetizer, two caesar salads, two entrees, and a dessert. We chose the Bruschetta di Carne Asada for an appetizer. Imagine the best piece of bruschetta you’ve ever eaten and then add juicy strips of steak on top of it. If you’re a meat eater, this is a must have. My entree was Rigatone alla Lorena, which is a fancy way of saying pasta tossed with bell peppers, spinach, mozzarella, and Italian sausage in a garlic and oil sauce. We finished off the meal with a sinful slice of tiramisu.
After filling myself to the brim, I decided a more appropriate name for the Rose Angelis Thursday night special would have been the $49.00 dinner for four. I was still eating my Rigatone alla Lorena three days later. And it was delicious to the very last bite. If you’re in the neighborhood, check this place out. You won’t be disappointed when you leave, just incredibly stuffed.
