McGee’s (Bar, Lincoln Park)

Location: 950 W. Webster
Phone: (773) 549-8200

McGee’s is crawling with twenty-somethings on one mission: to get really drunk. You may think that is the intention of most people at bars, but with a high concentration of college students and recent college grad transplants to Lincoln Park, this place is always hosting a rowdy party. With cheap beer and burger nights during the week, McGee’s is never empty. And always loud. They do have a sidewalk patio during the warm months where you can take advantage of their all-you-can- drink mimosa brunch.

Bar1 (the group that owns McGee’s) is almost always sponsoring a pub crawl, so you can probably hop on one for the upcoming holiday. Tickets usually include a buffet and a trolley taking you to the rest of their bars (Wrightwood Tap, Redmonds, Duffys, Durkins, & Maeve). They’ve got live music Wednesdays-Saturdays which is a nice change from the Top 40 hits playing all through the rest of the bar. McGee’s is very popular for Ohio State Buckeyes games, so arrive early to watch the game. They also are a popular destination for St. Patrick’s Day and their annual crawfish bowl.

About Tessa McLean

There is just something about that feeling when you have been away — maybe for a weekend, a month, 6 months — and you’re driving into Chicago and that first glimpse of the city skyline appears. It just always makes me smile.
