Luxbar is a great Gold Coast spot for both the young and old alike. Though it can be a little loud in the dining room, this hip restaurant and bar caters to both older regulars and 20-somethings in the neighborhood for a night on the town.

The Tangled Onion strings are a great starter. The entrees consist of mostly burgers, sandwiches and salads, but there are of course several more substantial dishes to choose from. Specials include options such as a Wild Scottish Salmon and BBQ Baby Back Ribs. I’ve got to recommend the burgers, but if you’re not in the mood for a huge chunk of beef, try the Pulled Pork Sandwich, the Roasted Chicken Sandwich, or the Veggie Burger — all incredibly tasty options that come with Luxbar’s delicious fries. The restaurant is owned by the Gibsons Restaurant Group, who also owns Gibsons Steakhouse and Hugo’s Frog Bar across the street. All three serve Gibson’s amazing steaks.

The wine list is extensive and reasonably-priced, as is the food menu. And, oh, the desserts. They aren’t kidding around here… the chocolate cake is sinful. (For those of you from my generation, you may remember a certain punishment in the film/book Matilda…Yea, it’s like that.) Served with ice cream and a massive steak knife driven through the top of it, there’s no better way to end your meal.

The place makes a great spot for a celebratory dinner, and the upstairs space is a nice space for private parties, rehearsal dinners, and birthdays.
