Kelly’s is one of those neighborhood bars where you can stop in and have a beer at five o’clock on a Wednesday, or spend an entire Saturday night getting hammered with friends. I have been here in my pajamas, and I’ve been here in heels. It’s an anomaly of a bar — one that your dad partied at when he was in his 20s, and that you now frequent for Monday night dollar beers. Though the place can get a little stuffy inside when it’s crowded (it’s rather small), there’s a decent-sized patio to enjoy when the weather’s warm. If you make this one of your regular spots, you’ll always run into someone you know here… and that’s part of it’s charm. Also, be sure to tip your bartender — if you don’t, be prepared to be booed as the staff rings a large brass bell behind the bar to call out cheapskates.

Kelly’s!! Back when I was a visitor to the wonderful city of Chicago, I remember Kelly’s being by far one of my favorite places. It was the bar that kept me from looking like a tourist :) Good choice!
