Howl at the Moon is not a solely Chicago spot — you’ll find this bar in several other cities around the country. Don’t let that deter you, though, if you’re on the prowl for a loud, crazy drunken night that involves singalongs, bad dancing, and lots of booze.

If you’re still reading, then this may be the spot for your next girls night out. Howl at the Moon is a dueling piano bar in River North that packs in the crowds for fun, late nights. Think hundreds of 20- and 30-somethings dancing their asses off to Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, and Shania Twain. The bar is centered around a large stage at the front, where two pianists and other band members crank out crowd pleasers all night long.

Wanna hear your favorite song? Write requests on pieces of paper, fold a dollar or two into it, and set it on the piano. Really wanna hear your song? Better make it a five or a ten. Hey, it’s a small price to pay, right?

There are several bars for grabbing drinks, and servers mingling in the crowd… but as the night goes on, it’s too packed for servers to be dependable, so I’d suggest walking yourself to the bar for a drink. Lots of people go for the huge fishbowls of mixed drinks. But honestly, we all know those suckers are watered down as hell, so I suggest going for a beer or a real drink — as they say, “liquor is quicker…”

A warning: do not go here intending to stay sober. I know that sounds uber douchy, but you just can’t. The music is loud, the patrons are louder, and beer will likely be spilled on your shoes. Go if you want a crazy night out, you aren’t afraid of belting it out, and you’ve got your dancin’ shoes on.
