I’ll start by saying Halligan’s is small. And shaped triangularly. And there is only one bathroom. It’s not the best place to be when it’s crowded, unless you like that kind of thing, but it has some of the best specials I’ve ever seen. Catering mostly to the Depaul crowd and those roaming down the 2200 North block of Lincoln Ave., Halligan’s is a typical Irish bar boasting lots of Guinness and Jameson ($3 each every day!). In true Irish tradition Halligan’s was established by two firemen in 2001, though it boasts John Dillinger as a regular back in its early tavern days.

This is a great place to come for St. Patricks day or a passing Guinness and shot of Jameson.

About Tessa McLean

There is just something about that feeling when you have been away — maybe for a weekend, a month, 6 months — and you’re driving into Chicago and that first glimpse of the city skyline appears. It just always makes me smile.
