With “epic” in its name and a slogan like “a more mindful burger,” this place has a lot to live up to. But don’t you worry, Epic Burger does not disappoint. This new-ish burger joint could easily go unnoticed in both of its modest locations (one in Lincoln Park and one in the Loop). It’s definitely worth a visit, though.

Choose from a Junior or Double All-Natural Epic Burger, a Tasty Turkey Burger, an All-Natural Chicken Breast sandwich, or a Portabella Mushroom sandwich. The burgers are made with 100% chuck beef, with no hormones, antibiotics or any other yucky stuff. They are also hand packed and cooked fresh to order — never frozen! Woohoo! I opted for a chicken sandwich when I went, and mmmm…. so tender and tasty. Ok, next option: white or wheat bun, both of which are baked fresh every day at local bakeries. Lettuce, tomato, pickle, raw or grilled onion, fried egg, wisconsin cheeses, and all-natural bacon are also available to top off your creation. Don’t get too picky, though: no avocado or sundried tomatoes here. These people are burger purists. You’ll also have the option of adding “Epic Sauce,” which I highly recommend. It’s nothing that creative, just a tangy thousand island, but oh so good. Last, but certainly not least, are their fresh cut trans-fat free fries. YUM.

And what burger joint is complete without a killer shakes, malts and smoothies list? Of course, all those are made with natural, fresh ingredients, too. You may be sensing a trend here… and trust me, you’ll notice it with the finished product. You’ll be able to taste the freshness in the produce and meat, which not only tastes better while you’re eating it, but leaves you feeling better afterward, too. No feeling greasy and regretful after eating here, just full contentedness and an eagerness to be hungry again so you can come back.

Just don’t expect anything fancy here — it’s an order-at-the-counter kind of place with minimal decor. But who cares when the food is so good?! Like Rule #1 on their “Epic Rules” list says, “Not all burgers are created equal.” Trust us when we say, these guys are a cut above the rest.
