Wicker Park Neighborhood Guide

Neighborhood Overview

Wicker Park seems to constantly be a neighborhood in transition. First, it was the formerly dingy somewhat seedy area being taken over and reinvented by the city’s young hipster crowd. Now — a rather rapid change — Wicker Park is becoming a trendy, if not sometimes expensive, hotspot.

Thanks to the inhabitants that made this area cool, many people know Wicker Park as the artsy, hip, young area with tons of under the radar bars and restaurants. But that no longer holds true. In fact, as far as we’re concerned, Wicker Park is the new Lincoln Park. Fancy boutiques and upscale restaurants are moving into the ‘hood, taking the place of independent merchants. Stroller-pushing soccer moms are weeding out PBR-drinking 20 somethings, and real estate prices are going up.

That said, though it’s not the hipster haven that it used to be, Wicker Park is still home to countless galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and bars that promise a little something different than any other part of the city.
