Bucktown Neighborhood Guide

Neighborhood Overview
The differences between Bucktown and Wicker Park can get a little hazy, but this area between North Avenue and Fullerton holds its own with its penchant for the arts and a pretty hoppin’ main drag down Damen Avenue. Rumor has it that the name dates back to the area’s 19th century residents, who were mainly goat herders, making the “buck” an important staple in the growing community. These days, Bucktown has experienced a large growth in popularity with the hipster crowd, and more recently prices have risen substantially due to West Side gentrification. Trendy restaurants and bars are luring clientele from downtown and keeping them in Bucktown with its creative spirit. Outdoor festivals Around the Coyote and Bucktown Arts Festival are great times to check out this neighborhood.
