The South Side of Chicago gets a bad rap in the media. There is so much culture, architecture and history to be enjoyed south of Madison Avenue, yet these areas are so often neglected in the search for the real Chicago.

Between the brainiacs in Hyde Park, the artists of Pilsen and the cooks of Little Italy, there lies the heart of where this city was born. It’s true — Chicago began in what is now known as the South Side… the North Side was a later addition. Home to the White Sox and the Chicago Blues, Chicago’s South Side is rich with an energy and culture.
