Neighborhood Overview

Uptown is a highly undervalued area of Chicago. Full of culture, entertainment, and restaurants, it’s one of the most lively places in town. Included in the Uptown neighborhood are Buena Park and Sheridan Park, among other small communities.

When it comes to entertainment, Uptown may not be the first neighborhood that comes to mind. But think again — it’s home to several popular music venues, including the Aragon Ballroom, The Riviera Theater, Uptown Theatre and the Green Mill Jazz Club. The acclaimed comedy club Annoyance Theatre at Broadway and Lawrence also draws people from all over the city to see some of Chicago’s best comics.

Want to enjoy the great outdoors? Uptown’s close proximity to the lake means lots of public greenspace, including Montrose Harbor and Montrose Beach, with one of the city’s only dog beaches. Want to know where Chicago gets all those street names? Check out Graceland Cemetery.
