The sprawling area known as the North Side of Chicago is comprised of several unique neighborhoods, from Uptown to the Gold Coast. Though the North Side has been pegged as home to the city’s yuppies and prepsters, there’s much more to these neighborhoods than drunk Cubs fans and high-end boutiques.

The North Side began developing and growing in the 1940s, so it holds much of the city’s history. Hidden gems are everywhere — that is, if you know where to find them. Whether you’re into jazz music, Thai food, modern art, soccer or salsa dancing, the North Side has a myriad of options for you.
