Neighborhood Overview

In recent years the River North area has gone through major renovations from a largely warehouse district to a multitude of new luxury condo buildings popping up between the multitude of art galleries and studios that already inhabited the neighborhood. Largely occupied by young professionals, River North is situated just across the Chicago River from the Loop, but has a little more of a neighborhood feel. Even with its recent population growth, River North has all that its Loop neighbor has; the neighborhood boasts the Chicago Merchandise Mart,the world’s largest commercial building — it even has its own zip code! The area is also home to the beautiful Holy Name Cathedral and the House of Blues.

An area full of creativity, the River North neighborhood also houses several advertising agencies, both local and globally celebrated.

You’ll never be at a loss for something to do in River North, as it has become a popular area for trendy restaurants and clubs. If you’re feeling swanky and have a few bucks to spend, River North is the place to be.
