Neighborhood Overview

The Magnificent Mile may be on every tourist’s must-see list, but many lucky Chicago residents also call this area of the city home. This northern commercial district is home to over 460 stores and boutiques, over 200 restaurants, and more than 50 hotels. From the Lake Michigan to the historic Water Tower to the Chicago River; it’s not just a tourist attraction, it’s eight blocks of architecture, history, shopping, dining, and hotel luxury all rolled into one.

Usually packed with tourists and shoppers, the Magnificent Mile is adorned with well-maintained flower beds and trees as well as enticing shop windows every time you turn your head. The main thoroughfare receives about 22 million visitors per year, making it a rather noisy place to live, but a great place to enjoy the vibe of the city. With endless options for eating and shopping, you will never get bored on the Magnificent Mile. In the winter the tree-lined streets sparkle with holiday cheer, and in the summer that close proximity to Oak Street Beach is a nice touch.
