The Chicago Jazz Festival emerged from a few different events in the 1970s. The first Chicago Jazz Festival drew a crowd of over 125,000 people and has continued annually ever since.

With so many festivals it’s hard to pick just one per weekend. After a careful investigation, here are our picks for what to enjoy musically for free/cheap in June.

The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is a summertime hub for music lovers. Chicagoans flock to the Loop every night of the week for a uniquely Chicago experience: great music in an even better setting.

Hosted by the Old Town School of Folk Music, the Chicago Folk and Roots Festival is a two-day music celebration held annually in Welles Park. This year’s festival will be July 9-10.
